Being in New England, Connecticut is notorious for wild swings in temperature.

Just how hot and cold has Connecticut gotten? You might be surprised.

Hot, Hot, Hot

The all-time record high was 106F in Danbury on July 15th, 1995. Just how hot is that? Well, a typical hot shower might have water at 104F. Many saunas operate with temperatures around that. Hey, if you don't want to drag a friend into a steam sauna, you could literally fry an egg on the street with that sort of heat.

Chill out!

In most winters, some towns will deep below zero, but how low can the mercury go?

32 degrees below zero at Falls Village on February 16th, 1943. Don't expect that to happen anytime soon, the average low temperature for the coldest day of the winter is only about 17F and that's cold enough! At 32 degrees below zero, most ice-melters and windshield washer fluids won't work. If it gets to 38 below, mercury freezes. Yikes, you know it's cold when your thermometer stops working.
