Check out this time lapse animation created by the Scientific Visualization Studio at NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center.  This video was created over the course of 30 months from June 2005 to December 2007 and visualizes the fluid dynamical motions of the oceans surface currents.  This entire animation sequence was created via NASA and JPL's high-resolution model which integrates the motions of the global oceans.

This video will surely remind anyone with art knowledge of a Van Gogh painting, like "Starry Night".
