Norwalk, Conn. (WTNH) --  One Connecticut city is taking extra precautions to prevent brush fires.

The trouble is a dry winter turned into a dry spring, so all the leaves and twigs in the woods are tinder dry. The fire danger is high all over the state, but in Norwalk, they took the extra step of banning smoking in all city parks.

Cranbury Park is 227 beautiful acres in northern Norwalk, and nobody wants to see it go up in smoke. That's why no smoking signs went up.

"I'm glad people were proactive and initiated this," said resident Jill Alibrandi. "I don't think we're going to get rain for 3 or 4 more days, so I am 100% in agreement."
