The image above shows the 12z (8am) GFS model at 500mb on Monday at 18z (2pm).
The feature that jumps out is a big ridge that will be building across the eastern half of the country and that means warm temps on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday for Connecticut.
There are some model differences in the exact strength and placement of the ridge. The NAM model is actually a bit more aggressive which would mean even warmer temps, but this GFS model seems to have a good handle on what will be happening.
The bottom line is above-normal temps for sure. I think the shoreline can plan on lower 70s Sunday, Monday and Tuesday at least with Monday having the best chance of closing in on 75°. The ocean and sound are cold, so it's gonna be very tough to get much warmer than that.
Inland, away from the water, 70s look to be a certainty. The only question right now is, do we hit 80°. I'd like to see more models...see if they are consistent with building that ridge even more. The other thing is sun vs. clouds. Sunday will start with rain, but if that sun pops out, the temperature pops up. Monday should be dry, but again, more sun and less clouds and we could hit 80. And then on Tuesday, showers are likely...again, that will determine just how warm it gets.
