While a majority of lakes and rivers here in Connecticut have been stocked early and often with trout and salmon (see Sam Kantrow's post here), some areas could not be due to this year's lack of snow melt and rainfall. Fishing season officially opens in Connecticut on April 21st, so if you're planning on heading out there tomorrow here are a few places you should avoid to increase your chances of catching the big one.
Gardner Lake in Salem and Highland Lake in Winchester were drawn down over the winter and have not refilled sufficiently to allow restocking.
Dam problems have led to Wyassup Lake in North Stonington and Enders Pond in Granby not being stocked so far this year.
Parmalee Brook in Durham and Laurel Brook in Middletown were not stocked this spring due to insufficient flows.
Fishing is open at Beachdale Pond in Voluntown but the water has been drawn down due to dam repairs. Shore fishing access is available.
