Freezing Temps? Rain? Snow?

The last weekend of April is here and it's gonna feel more like March.
A cold front came through the area late Thursday into early Friday with some very light rain. The cold front is now to our east and attached to that front is an area of low pressure just northeast of Maine. Cold high pressure from Canada is building into the Great Lakes. Because the winds around low pressure are always counter-clockwise and the winds around high pressure are always clockwise in the Northern Hemisphere, that "pressure gradient" has given us very strong northwesterly winds. And those winds are not just pulling down very cold temps, but also making it "feel" even colder. Tonight, all of CT is now under a Freeze Warning and with the wind, it will feel like the teens!
A lot of wet weather is building up across the Northern Plains into the Dakotas and earlier this week it looks as though this rain could make a run at Connecticut and that it could even be cold enough here for some snowflakes. The NAM weather model was the most aggressive with rain and snow here, but by Thursday it was the only model that was bringing the precip that far north. Every other model kept the rain to our south grazed us with a few showers. As of Friday, every model now keeps all of the rain to our south, only bringing clouds in late Saturday. Even the NAM has now come south with the rain.
The reason for the rain going south? That strong, cold area of high pressure will make it cold here, but will also block the rain.
