Lightning: Safety Tips and Information

As we all know severe weather season is rolling around the corner.
Lightning is a very dangerous part of a thunderstorm and should always taken seriously. The rule is if you can hear thunder that lightning is near. If you hear thunder than you should take cover in a safe shelter immediately. Never take shelter under a tree, it could be hit by lightning and you could be the one struck. If you are at the beach or in a pool you should get out and take shelter. Before going anywhere always check your local weather forecasts!
Lightning is caused by friction inside of the storm cloud by electrically charged atoms moving around when hot air rises. Lightning may be pretty to take pictures of, but is nothing to mess around with for everyday people. Scientists are always running tests to find out new things about thunderstorms and lightning. Scientists have found that Florida has the most lightning strikes out of every state in the U.S. Thunderstorms and lightning are always going to be here so always remember that they need to be taken seriously.
