Good, But Not Perfect Holiday Weekend

The Memorial Day Weekend forecast is becoming a bit more clear. Overall, it should be nice, and considering how Memorial Day Weekend historically can be really fickle and stubborn and ugly, it could be a lot worse. But it will not be perfect and may end up being much like last Memorial Day. Warm and sticky and beach-worthy and picnic-worthy and bbq-worthy, but with the threat for rain looming at certain points.
The image above shows the front that will play cat and mouse with Connecticut all weekend long. The good news is that since it is only a front and there are no major storms nearby, it won't cause any widespread rain. The bad news is that it is still a front that can cause showers & storms.
If I had to pick the best day, it would be Saturday. The front should be far enough away to the northwest that we should have plenty of sunshine along with a warm and humid feel...perfect for the beach. Late Saturday, the front will approach and that means during the late afternoon or evening, a few storms could pop up.
The problem is that on Sunday, that front will stall out just to our south and turn back around, and that means a better chance of rain Sunday into Monday...but it all depends on how far south the front pushes before it turns back around, when it begins moving back to the north and then how far north the front actually moves.
So...I think most of the weekend will be great - but whatever time that front decides to come in, stall out and turn back around will determine just what periods of time we see rain. My gut tells me most of the days will be okay...just have to watch the late afternoons and nights, which would be great. Stay tuned....
