What a weekend...almost a Fall feel with cool temperatures and very dry air in place. One more cool day today with low humidity levels. There are some serious changes on the way!
WOW...impressive data for mid-late week! I also have to remind myself that is is June after this recent cool stretch. Blazing heat cooking much of the lower 48 states will continue closing in on our area.
A strong 500mb ridge and subsidence will combine for some very warm temperatures. I do think dew points will climb to create some serious heat index numbers, so this heat will likely end up on a dangerous level. Especially since we haven't had much heat recently. With progged 850mb temps > 20 degrees celcius, 90s are likely. I would not be surprised to hear of a 100 degree reading here in Connecticut Thursday at the peak of this hot weather set-up.
Some spotty thunder may fire in the very hot atmosphere Thursday, but upper levels may end up too warm for widespread convection. Some thunder/convection will need to be watched with the frontal band Friday.
We may sneak one more hot day in on Friday as the front crosses and a land to sea wind carries the warmth right to the shore. There should be a thermal lag on the warmth before CAA kicks in.
A cooler cyclonic flow expected for the coming weekend.
