Early this morning, the National Hurricane Center issued a Tropical Weather Outlook, as a low building in The Gulf looks to be making some headway towards the coast of Florida. The center of the well-defined low is currently 1004 mb, with increasing winds as the system moves along. It does look like this system will become a Tropical Cyclone, officially by later today, but chances of this defined formation becoming a hurricane could of course happen. Now proper conditions are necessary for hurricanes to form...and some things that we could consider would be SST's above 78 degrees F. The potential of maximum latent heat in the center of rotation, low wind shear (otherwise the system will just tear itself apart), deep moisture through the mid-levels of the atmosphere, as cool air will either evaporate the air or essentially create high pressure within the system, and be a minimum of 5 degrees away from the equator the rotation of the low is affected.

The track of this impeding Tropical Depression/Tropical Cyclone is not yet forecasted to head our way, but if you are traveling to the coast of Florida, it is certainly important to keep logging onto Wxedge.com and WTNH.com for any updates.

Enjoy your Saturday!
