Happy 236th birthday, America. It's a pleasure to call you home. We are all very fortunate!
So...it won't be the best Fourth of July, but we do have some improvements from yesterday. To begin with, we are not looking at a widespread severe weather outbreak like we saw on Sunday. And things should be okay for all of the fireworks in the evening. But, it is definitely not an ideal beach day.
The image above shows the surface conditions at 8pm on Wednesday.
The warm front to our northeast looks to be right on schedule coming in overnight tonight into Wednesday morning with the scattered showers and thunderstorms. No severe weather is anticipated, but some heavier downpours are possible after about 3am and up until about 9am.
The rest of the day may end up being mainly dry. It's gonna be mostly cloudy and there is still the chance for a few isolated, pop-up storms at any point during the day, but many areas will not see the rain. But...any storms that do form have the potential to be strong to severe in the afternoon and early evening.
The big story once the rain ends is the start of another heat wave. Hot and humid weather moves in on Wednesday and sticks around until late Saturday when our next cold front (you can see it stretching from Minnesota to Nebraska) brings a few storms and some cooler, drier air for Sunday.
So...for those of you with the day off on Wednesday who are planning on going to the beach...my advice...sleep in and relax. If things work out, maybe by late morning things will improve enough for the beach. Just tune in to News 8 and wtnh.com and wxedge.com to keep up on any storms that may pop up in the afternoon.
Be safe and have a great holiday! I think we are all looking forward to next year when the Fourth falls on any day but Wednesday! But we will enjoy the second of the big-three summer holidays either way.
