Mother Nature wants to provide some of her own fireworks for July 4th.
9:38 p.m.
A Severe Thunderstorm Warning has been issued for lower Fairfield County. The thunderstorm will be impacting Greenwich, Stamford and Darien over the next half hour or so. Torrential rain and small hail is possible with this storm, as well as gusty winds.
Additional storms are also moving through Fairfield County further to the northeast, but these storms are not as strong.
The main threat with these storms is heavy rain and lightning. Small hail and gusty winds cannot be ruled out with some of the stronger, isolated storms.
Severe weather is not anticipated, but keep an eye to the skies and be ready to temporarily bring those Fourth of July plans back inside.
For the remainder of the afternoon:
Storms will fire across the entire region. A more organized area of severe weather is being monitored across northern New England and that may make it into CT later tonight.
