With over a year of studying and analyzing, I have confirmed Woodbridge to be the town with the most diverse temperatures within itself. There are 3 weather stations in this town. 2 of them are on the north side of town, near Bethany and another one on the south side of town, nearing Orange. The temperatures on the south side of town will get really hot during the day, and usually they end up being the coldest in the state at night, even colder than the Litchfield Hills. What does this sound like? - a valley. The stations on the north side of Woodbridge stay cooler in the day and will stay warmer than most people at night; a smaller difference in temperatures compared to most people. This is due to the fact that the stations on the north side of town sit at an elevation of 700 feet. The one station on the south side of town drops all the way down to 250 feet. At night the natural cooling process starts in the north and works its way south, and west at the same time... the cooler air slopes down the northern hills of Woodbridge, settling into the south side valley because of the effects of convection. To validate my analysis even further, all of these weather stations are Davis Vantage Pro2's. Here is an example of daily temperatures for Woodbridge... July 6th: South Woodbridge- High= 88.3 and Low= 59.9 (overall difference:28.4) ....a few miles up the road... North Woodbridge- High= 84.8 and Low= 64.7 (overall difference: 20.1)...South Woodbridge had an extra 8 degree difference from high to low...there are more extremes in the valleys, and because of the quick rise in elevation, the Town of Woodbridge is a great example.
