Summer has a few different starting points here in Connecticut: Memorial Day Weekend marks the "unofficial" start to summer and June 1st marks the "meteorological" start to summer. Then there is the "official" first day of summer in late June. But for me, I like to think of the Fourth of July as the point when we really know it is summer.

And it's just after the Fourth each year when we historically see our warmest temperatures across the state.

For Bradley Airport, the peak of the heat happens from July 13th to August 5th when the normal high temperature is 85° and the normal low is 63°.

For Bridgeport, the peak happens each year from July 22nd to July 30th with a normal high of 83° and a normal low of 67°.

By the way, although we use the word "normal," the proper term is actually "average." The average is really a thirty year average.
