A cold front has been passing through Connecticut this afternoon and evening and brought some heavy rain and a few strong storms, but it will also bring some incredible weather tonight and Wednesday.
The image above is the surface map on Wednesday afternoon at 2pm.
On the far right is the cold front that came through on Tuesday. By Wednesday it will push all the way down to the Carolinas, which is pretty far south for a summer cold front. As a result, we get a very refreshing northwesterly wind tonight and Wednesday and that means seasonable temperatures, low humidity and clear weather.
Unfortunately, that amazing weather will only last for one day. The warm and humid air will be quickly turning back up to the north...you can see the warm front stretching from the Great Lakes southeast toward the North and South Carolina border. This warm front will move in on Thursday and with a wind shift to the southwest, we will see a surge of humidity.
In addition to the added humidity is some very unsettled weather. The warm front comes in and will be very close by into the weekend. That means showers and storms possible Thursday, Friday, Saturday and into early Sunday. It won't be raining all day, everyday, but there will be a chance of rain each day.
The first batch of heavy rain looks to be on Thursday morning for the commute. Then the rain becomes much more scattered.
