A developing situation is being monitored as severe thunderstorms are possible.

There have been reports of nickle-sized hail, as well as downed trees and power lines across Orange County, NY. This is just west of the Hudson River, which is not far from the NY/CT border.

The Storm Prediction Center stated that there is a 60% chance that a Severe Thunderstorm Watch will be issued.

There was also a Tornado Warning issued at 12:45 p.m. across western Pennsylvania and reports came back that there was a rain-wrapped tornado on the ground.

WXedge.com is monitoring the situation.
Any storms today can produce intense rainfall with localized flooding, small hail and dangerous lightning.

  • The combination of a frontal system, moderate instability and wind shear aloft is creating the potential for strong to severe thunderstorms.
  • Additionally, some of the storms have been slow-moving, which increases the threat of localized flooding.
