August begins on Wednesday and this week will be very August-like with the chance for showers & storms each day, increasing humidity, but still plenty of dry weather as well.
The image above is the satellite and radar at 5pm on Monday.
The first feature is the "H" that I have drawn just off the coast near Boston. That area of high pressure brought some lovely weather on Monday and kept the nearby storms west of Connecticut in NY, NJ and PA.
The second feature is the large area of rain that I have circled over the Southeastern United States. This storm system will move up toward CT on Tuesday. Most models agree this storm should go far enough to our east over the Atlantic that we won't take a direct hit. But, it will get close enough to give us an easterly wind all day and that means it's gonna be tough to shake the clouds, especially east of I-91 closer to the outer bands of this storm. So, we plan on a mostly cloudy and cooler day with a few showers & storms, but mainly to the east.
Then we get into the third feature on the map above for Wednesday, and that's the moisture over the Great Lakes with another frontal system. Wednesday probably has a bit more sunshine and slightly warmer temps with more of a southerly wind, but I think the showers & storms will be a bit more widespread...we could even see a few heavier downpours or a stronger storm or two west of I-91.
Then from Thursday through the weekend we see the temperatures and humidity going back up and the threat for storms each day, but these will occur mainly in the afternoon and evening.
So...if you are planning your weekend, I wouldn't cancel any beach or outdoor plans just yet - just be prepared each day to take it inside for a couple hours late in the day if the storms do decide to pop up.
