August is the month where the average temp starts to decline, not by much, but it's a start.
July average temp for BDR in July is 74. In August it's 73.
July average temp for BDL in July is 73.5. In August it's 71.6.
We also lose over an hour of daylight by months end.
Length of Daylight for August 1st is 14 hours, 22minutes
Length of Daylight for August 31st is 13 hours, 08 minutes.
So we lose 1 hour and 14 minutes of daylight in 31 days.
Above graph shows the mean August temperatures for BDR since 1982. You have to look closely, but if you look at the average white line, you can see we're actually leveling off during the past decade and have not increased like we have before the year 2000.
Here's how BDR looks since 1950. Out of the last 11 Augusts, 8 were above average. The last cooler than normal August we had was in 2008 for both locations.

Here's how BDL looks since 1950. Out of the last 11 Augusts, 9 were above average, and only 1 was below.

With the continued Negative NAO blocking up north and a trough in the east, we must wonder if August temps will be below normal and break the above normal streak for BDR. BDL did break the streak in June being below normal for the month.
Feel free to re-post these graphs.
