6:50 PM Update: an area of intense rainfall is very slowly moving through the state, but is continuing to drench portions of northern New Haven County.
The towns to be the hardest hit through 7:30 p.m. include Meriden, Middlefield, Wallingford, Durham, Middletown and Cheshire.
To add insult to injury the area of heavy rain is developing further south along I-91, which means communities in and around North Haven, North Branford and even portions of Hamden can expect heavy downpours with localized flooding through 7:30 p.m.

6:20 PM Update: Rain is stopping for many places across the state.  The same area that has been hammered again and again by heavy rain is still dealing with very heavy rain.  From Middlebury, south to Bethany, east to Wallingford, and north towards Meriden.  This also includes Cheshire and Waterbury.  There are other aread dealing with rain, but not as heavy as the towns around Naugatuck!  Things should progressively dissipate into the evening.

5:55 PM Update: Very heavy rain and even some small hail possibly falling with a storm located on the Oxford/Naugatuck line.  Another storm with heavy rain falling in Prospect, and another in Cheshire.  There is also a line of storms up Rt-6 from Waterbury to Bethlehem.  An aerial flood advisory has also been issued for New Haven until 7:45 PM tonight.

5:20 PM Update:  Seeing a few lines of storms.  The strongest of which is spanning from Roxbury, east towards northern Waterbury, and northeast from Waterbury to Simsbury.  The 3 heaviest places that are seeing rain that could cause flooding are in Monroe, Roxbury, and Watertown.  As of now, there are no current advisories.

4:45 PM Update:  Flash Flood Warning has been expired for Northern New Haven County.  The storms are scattered across the state but the strongest right now is in Watertown/Bethlehem.

4:30 PM Update:   Absolutely pouring in Watertown, Woodbury, Bethlehem, and Morris.  We're also watching another cell intensify in Fairfield, and another moving into Cromwell.  Heavy rain, lightning, and potential flooding are associated with these storms.

4:10 pm update:  Very heavy rain falling across Southern Litchfield County right now.  There is a cell stretching from Watertown, to Bethlehem, westward to Washington and all the way over to Kent.  It's moving slowly, and is dropping over an inch of rain per hour.  We currently have an aerial flood advisory for Litchfield and Tolland, and a flash flood warning for Northern New Haven County until 4:45pm. This could lead to flooded conditions.

While I never expected these storms to be severe, I didn't expect that the rain would cause as much flooding as it has.  We've gotten numerous reports of flooding in Litchfield, Naugatuck, Prospect, and Beacon Falls.  Check out some of the pictures from the flooding HERE.
