Thunderstorms are weakening as they move through Connecticut
8:30 p.m.
Heavy rain and embedded thunderstorms continue to impact the western half of Connecticut. These storms are losing their punch as the evening wears on.
With that said, localized flooding is still a concern across the state. Rainfall amounts with some of these storms can be on the heavy side.
Periods of rain and occasional thunderstorms can be expected through midnight and Flash Flood Watches continue for western and northwestern Connecticut into Monday morning.
A new line of thunderstorms is moving through western Connecticut.
7:55 p.m.
A Severe Thunderstorm Warning is in effect for northern Litchfield County until 8:30 p.m. Strong to potentially severe thunderstorms are impacting both northern Litchfield County as well as most of Fairfield County.
1. The storm in Litchfield County will impact Cornwall, Goshen, Canaan, North Canaan and Norfolk between now and 8:20 p.m.
2. The storm in Fairfield County will reach Bridgeport and the Route 8 corridor between 8 and 8:30 p.m.
Heavy rain and frequent lightning are the biggest threats with these storms.
With that said, a few areas can see strong wind gusts that may cause localized damage and power outages. Additionally, localized flooding is possible as rainfall rates can be quite intense.
7:05 p.m.
A Severe Thunderstorm Warning is in effect for western Litchfield County until 7:45 p.m. Strong to potentially severe thunderstorms will move from WSW to ENE across Litchfield and Fairfield Counties between now and 8:30 p.m.
