As we close in on the anniversary of Tropical Storm Irene I began looking over my photographs from that day and find myself still amazed at the power of the storm. Although the storm weakened from a Hurricane to a tropical storm as it passed just to the west of Connecticut, the forward motion of energy moving up the coast didn't dissipate as quickly! The combination of forward speed and a high tide exaggerated the impacts along the beaches of Connecticut. This was especially evident here in Milford. From Woodmont, to Anchor, to Bayside and Gulf the water over flowed the sound into streets and homes.
The following photographs were taken by me on August 28, 2011 throughout parts of Milford, CT. I was lucky enough to SAFELY get some great shots! A few of the photographs in this slideshow are also featured in my article Extreme Weather 2011 in Photos! Which I posted back in May on WXedge.
