Since the Summer trend is finally dieting down and Fall is just around the corner, I believe it is time to re-cap the summer of 2012, weather-wise.

The summer months (June, July, August) all had a morning or two that dropped into the 40's. On June 5th, we had a low of 44.9 degrees. Also on June 4th, 17th, and 18th we had lows of 48-49 degrees. 40's in June are expected sometimes, but now we move onto July; the core month of summer.

On July 18th, the temperature reached 101 degrees... A few days later on July 21st we dipped down to 52 degrees which is considered really chilly for July. The morning of the 22nd, we fell down to 45.4 degrees.

On August 19th, the temp dropped to 49 degrees, followed by another 49 on August 29th. The morning of the 30th we woke up to 44.4 degrees.

Comparing to last year, June 3rd-5th had morning lows of 46. July had a low of 54 and August had a low of 55. Things were very different this year, let's see what the next brings us.

Keep in mind, the northern part of North Haven is a major microclimate. When you get to the north side of town, about 10-13 miles inland from the water, and away from the industrial town center... Mainly Clintonville, however the data from 2011 was from Montowese (about a mile south of where I record, which makes a big difference when you're this close to the water) temperatures will be really hot, and really cold. Sometimes the most extreme in the state. This is because North Haven is located in the Quinnipiac Valley. Wallingford does not see this effect as much because the valley is full of industrial areas, which are always warmer.
