Clintonville is a neighborhood on the north-east side of North Haven, near Northford. At 6:12AM the temperature bottomed out at 37.1 degrees. This was measured by my Davis Vantage Pro2 weather station. I was almost skeptical myself, until I saw the frost on my front yard and the roofs of houses around me. Just to verify, I put a new battery in my handheld Kestrel Weather station and recorded a temperature of 39.8 degrees. Keep in mind, my Davis is 33 feet off the ground and my handheld is only about 5 feet, so a variance is expected. Once I got on the bus on my street, I noticed that after rising about 50 feet in elevation a few roads down, the frost diminished. Once again, this is a valley effect. The cool air slopes down the hills and ponds in the low spots. My street is set up very unique. It rises about 30 feet from the bottom, then drops about 15 feet, and rises 20 more feet (all over 0.15 miles). My house is in the spot that dips after the first rise, so the cool air literally ponds right over my house and my closets neighbors creating a HUGE microclimate.
