As shorter days and cooler temperatures descend on Connecticut, people begin to turn their eyes to the trees.
Now that Connecticut is officially in fall season, the trees are beginning to show off their colors.
The map shows where the tree foliage is beginning to change. The yellow represents trees in their early stages of color change (11-30%) while the orange represents areas seeing mid-color change or (31-40%). The green represents areas that have yet to really begin the change.
Here in Connecticut the trees begin to change from the northwest corner and the northeast corner and progress southward. Currently much Connecticut is reporting low color change (11-30%). The only areas yet to see real color change is our coastal locales. Also northwestern Litchfield County, Northern Hartford County, and parts of Northern Windham are reporting moderate color change about 35% color change.
In the coming weeks expect these colors to rapidly progress southward. Feel free to comment below and report if your area is seeing color. This map will be updated two times per week.
