5:25 p.m.
A Flood Advisory is in effect until 6:45 p.m. for New London County.

4:00 p.m.
The heaviest rain has moved into eastern CT. As a result, localized flooding is possible across New London and even parts of Windham counties. Scattered showers and pockets of moderate rain will continue into the early evening. A few thunderstorms may pop up, mainly across SW CT. Any storms may produce locally heavy rainfall. Aside from that, flash flooding concerns will diminish across southwestern CT.

2:20 p.m.
Radar indicates a meso-scale low feature, seen as a hook-shaped echo on radar south of Branford, is grazing along the shoreline. Radar shows some rotation with this cell, so it needs to be monitored for the SLIGHT POSSIBILITY of tornadic development. At the very least, very heavy rain and gusty winds can be expected along the I-95 corridor from Branford to Madison through 3 p.m.

1:30 p.m.
A Special Marine Warning remains in effect for the waters of Long Island Sound, south of New Haven County. The stormy weather is expected to continue into mid-afternoon.

Forecast:
Very heavy rain and embedded thunderstorms are moving from SW to NE, now moving across lower New Haven County This heavy rain may cause localized flooding and will greater lower visibility. Use caution on the roads, especially on I-95 from Milford and points eastward.
Heavy rain is also popping up across eastern Connecticut.

Severe potential:
A few of the stronger storms may produce gusty winds. There is even a slight potential for a tornado spin-up or a waterspout. The atmosphere is marginally supportive of some rotation, so keep an eye to radar and stay tuned for possible watches and warnings.

Previous updates:

11:30 AM: Flash Flood Warning in effect for lower Fairfield County through 1 p.m.

11 AM: Heavy rain and strong thunderstorms are moving into southwestern CT.

9:30 a.m.
A Flood Advisory is in effect for Fairfield County through 11 a.m. Friday.

Radar shows heavy rain moving into southwestern CT this morning. That rain will continue to move northeastward. The heavy rain will cause low visibility, but more importantly, may cause localized flooding.

Forecast:
Periods of heavy rain can be expected across lower Fairfield County through the rest of the morning. This will make travel difficult along the Merritt Parkway and I-95 difficult between the NY/CT line, northeastward to Trumbull and Bridgeport. Plan for extra travel time and use caution on roadways.

Flooding potential:
Any flooding will be localized, and most severe across poor-drainage and flood-prone areas. Ponding on roadways is also another concern.
