What a wild ending to October we’ve had the past two years!  Last year was the “Snowtober” event and this year of course was Hurricane Sandy.  Last month was the first full month having my new Davis Vantage Pro II weather station data and I was anxiously waiting the chance to look at the October data.

First a brief note about Sandy data.  I live in a very wooded area so my wind data doesn’t reflect the high winds that we all received during Sandy.  A reliable station only a couple of miles away recorded wind gusts of 58 mph while I only had 21mph!  I was very lucky to escape Sandy without any power outages or damage to the property.

The normal average monthly low temperature for October is 41 degrees.  I had 48 at my station. Also, I only dropped below freezing once all month!

The normal average monthly high temperature of 62 was beaten by 2.4 degrees with 64.5 recorded on my Davis.  On the 5th, the high temperature was a wonderful 77 degrees.  The coolest day of the month was the 13th when I only had a high of 54 and a low of 28.
