Cars and trucks stranded and abandoned in deep snow along Route 128 in Dedham, Mass., are seen in this Feb. 9, 1978 photo, as military and civilian plows begin to dig them out.
Between February 5th and 8th of 1978, a historic blizzard ripped through portions of New England. The snow was so heavy that countless vehicles were left stranded along interstate highways.
The blizzard was ultimately responsible for the deaths of about 100 people.
