Radar imagery shows that I punched the core with my storm intercept.

I knew the storm I hit was pretty special, but now looking back at radar, I couldn't have picked a better spot to intercept this storm.

The core passed over in two pieces, the first with strong winds around 1:55 p.m. and a second with torrential rain and small hail between about 2:00 and 2:05.

Check out the following slides for some more views of this severe storm, including wind speed graphics and 3-D cross-sections.

A special thanks goes out to Ralph Fato for sending me these images.

UPDATE: New slide at end thanks to Steve Barabas
