Stephen Barabas
Check out my Youtube page: http://www.youtube.com/user/tornadochaserwx
Steve was born in Derby, CT back in November of 1986 and has lived in Southbury, CT ever since. His interest in weather started at an early age due to his fear of thunderstorms and tornadoes. As far as he could recall the interest started around the age of 4 or 5. That fear quickly changed as he grew older and more educated and a few close encounters with lightning and severe weather events molded his fascination and increased bravery. In May of 2012 Steve obtained a degree in meteorology from Western Connecticut State University with concentrations in both operational-broadcasting and theoretical research applications.
He is also a avid storm chaser and enjoys traveling out to the plains when there are good storm set-ups to chase. He feels that storm chasing is a fantastic way to apply forecasting, while also being able to see the storms in action. It's kind of like a reward for having a validated forecast. Steve is also interested in engineering, mainly electrical and mechanical engineering. He has a strong fascination with weather instrumentation and radio equipment. Plenty more updates to come!
